Team NINJA Reveals Details on Dead or Alive 5 Plus' Cross-Platform Features

After a recent reveal that Dead or Alive 5 Plus will allow cross-platform interaction between the PS3 and the PS Vita, Team NINJA announced further details on how this will work. While gamers previously knew that play between the two devices would be allowed, as well as shared save data and purchases from Playstation Store, we now have more details about the interactivity as we are fast approaching its release date on March 19.

In regard to cross-platform play, Team NINJA has stated icons indicating the device being used to play will be displayed next to player names, and on both ends, the game will run at 60fps to provide a seamless transition between the two. Rankings, as well, will carry the icon to differentiate between the PS Vita and the PS3, and any characters players unlock will be available in both versions of the game under the above-mentioned shared save files.

DLC for the game will be handled in similar fashion, as purchasing DLC will unlock it on either device for a player. Thus far, a collection of over 100 costumes for fighters as DLC have been created, and this connectivity between platforms will allow players to use these on either end.

This exchange of data works for players’ save files as well. Any levels or other unlocked content will be available on both systems, to allow players to play at home or on the go without having to create two save files. This goes for all costumes as well, like Tina’s Legend Swimsuit; players need only play through Legend difficulty without continuing in the game’s Arcade mode once to unlock the outfit on both their PS3 and PS Vita.

Fan-favorites return for fierce combat.

All this comes with DOA’s signature style, combat, and characters. Players can interact with environments spanning many worldwide locales, and painstaking detail has been put into maintaining the game’s unique flair, and characters have been modeled in life-like fashion to provide a new, comprehensive Dead or Alive experience for players yet again that’s sure to please fans of the series and of fighting games in general.
