Take-Two Interactive Primed to Succeed With Aces Up Sleeves

This week Take-Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick told of how well Take-Two has been doing and how that places the company in a great position for the future.

During an earnings call, Zelnick said, “With BioShock Infinite, Borderlands 2, NBA 2K13 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown, our 2K label released four of the past year’s most critically acclaimed titles.” he goes on to say that “Fiscal 2014 promises to be one of our best years ever, highlighted by the upcoming launch of Grand Theft Auto V in September.”

The CEO also said that as a result the company has “a extraordinary pipeline of titles in development for next-generation platforms, including groundbreaking new intellectual property and releases from our proven franchises.”

What exactly could this mean for fans of Take-Two? Only the future will tell what the new titles could be and what games will be given sequels, but certainly the big guns are going to be brought to the transitionary E3 coming up.

Take-Two’s only known “new” IP is Agent, which was tipped off in 2007 before being formally announced at Sony’s E3 press conference in 2009.

From the company that has developed and/or published Grand Theft Auto, Midnight Club, BioShock, Max Payne, Red Dead, XCOM, and other franchises, it seems as though any title they decide to give a sequel to is a good choice.

Take-Two announced an astounding $1.214 billion in net revenue for fiscal year ending in 2013. Then, during the call Zelnick stated that this year has been an amazing one for Take-Two with its subsidiaries 2K and Rockstar. Max Payne 3 sales have surpassed 4 million copies and notes that Bioshock Infinite sales have surpassed 3.7 million units.

With Take-Two raking in the dough on the successful IP’s they have now, they’re one of the few developers/publishers poised to take chances on new IP’s.

We’ve seen them put money down for everything from racers to westerns, and soldiers to detectives, so who knows what they’ll concoct for gamers next, but as far as sequels go I’m going to pray to Talos that a new Red Dead game is in the works.
