Star Wars Battlefront 3 Fan Remake Has Been Approved For Steam Release

Frontwire, the developer behind the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront 3 remake, Galaxy in Turmoil, has announced that Valve has agreed to host the game on Steam.

Beforehand, Frontwire had previously told its fans it might not be possible to be released due to its use of the Star Wars IP. Star Wars Battlefront III was supposedly in production and Frontwire has taken it upon themselves to develop a fully-made fan version.

“It is with great pleasure that as of today I am able to officially announce that Frontwire Studios has officially signed a distribution deal with Steam/Valve for the game Galaxy in Turmoil,” Frontwire president Tony Fergie Romanelli said in a statement. “After ongoing discussion between Valve representatives and myself, Valve/Steam has agree to ship Galaxy in Turmoil to its million of users for FREE.”

Galaxy in Turmoil will make use of the Star Wars IP and it’s completely unlicensed. It’s easy to see that Disney would immediately shut it down even though it won’t cost fans any money. Romanelli shares some of those concerns but he doesn’t seem too worried:

“I’ll be honest—I’ve had mild concerns myself from time to time,” Romanelli explained. “However, Valve clearly lacks that same concern. By agreeing to publish Galaxy in Turmoil, Valve is assisting us in growing and ensuring the longevity of the Galaxy in Turmoil project and community as a whole.”

Romanelli shared an image of Galaxy in Turmoil’s Steam page, but it does not appear to be live on the platform quite yet.

LucasArts never actually confirmed that Battlefront III was in fact in production, but it seems as though something was in development, whatever it may be.

EA published a new Star Wars Battlefront game in November for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC—it was a huge hit. It’s hard to believe that Disney won’t want to shut this down when their game is so successful. At the same time, maybe they’ll be a good sport and let this title exist considering it won’t be any money lost for them. What do you think? Do you think Disney is going to shut down Galaxy in Turmoil? Will you play it? Let us know in the comments below!
