Square Enix Teams Up With The JED Foundation

To mark the launch of the highly anticipated new chapter in the Life Is Strange series, Square Enix has teamed up with the JED Foundation to give fans the opportunity to create and share meaningful videos in support of mental health issues. For every video, the house that built Final Fantasy will donate 5$ to JED up to $25,000.

The campaign, dubbed “Your Friend, Me”, aims to celebrate the power and importance of friendship all the while raising money for The JED Foundation. For those who never heard of JED, it’s a nonprofit organization which protects emotional health and prevent suicide for teens and young adults.

Square Enix and JED are encouraging fans to post short videos messages how a true friends positively impacted their life. Those who decide to participate will need to sign off their video by saying “Your friend” followed by your name.

For every video shared with the #LifeisStrange and #YourFriendMe hashtags, Square Enix will donate 5$ for JED that will be used toward improving mental health and supporting suicide prevention across the nation.

This campaign will also support the National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and Square Enix will have “Your Friend, Me” video stations at their booth at the 2017 Gamestop Expo in Las Vegas. Some videos will also be featured on the “Your Friend, Me” website.

Here’s what John MacPhee, CEO/Executive Director of JED, had to say about this partnership:

“We are grateful to Square Enix for helping to raise awareness for mental health and JED’s work. We all encounter life’s challenges and support from friends can help us get through those difficult times. ‘Your Friend, Me’ is a wonderful way for people to share their story and express their genuine appreciation for a friend, all while spreading a positive message and helping to make a charitable contribution to JED.”

Life Is Strange: Before The Storm will be available on August 31 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
