Special Edition of Quantum Break Headed for Steam

Today, Microsoft Studios and Remedy Entertainment announced a special edition for their Sci-Fi action adventure title, Quantum Break, which would see a retail release on September 14th for PC. In addition, Steam users can finally get to experience Quantum Break when it launches on the same day.

Initially, the game was only available on Xbox One and Windows PC for five months, without the ability to purchase the game on Steam. Now, even more people can experience what the game has to offer. Microsoft has been pushing to bridge the PC/console market for awhile now and this step could be proof of how serious the company is.

While the Xbox One version remains at the full retail price of $59.99, the PC versions will receive a price drop to commemorate the upcoming launch.

Quantum Break: Timeless Collector’s Edition and the Windows Store version are currently available digitally for $39.99. When the retail copy for Quantum Break‘s special edition launches, the price will remain at $39.99.

The retail special edition of Quantum Break is possible thanks to a partnership Microsoft has with Nordic Games. Both the Steam and special edition versions contain the latest updates to the game, ensuring players have the best experience possible following a rocky initial launch on PC.

The retail version of the Quantum Break: Timeless Collector’s Edition will cost EUR/USD 39.99 and includes:

  • Premium packaging
  • 5 Game Discs (one-time Steam key redemption required)
  • Making of Blu-Ray
  • Making of Book
  • 1 Soundtrack CD (Audio-CD)
  • 2 Posters
  • Quickstart Guide

“After having worked with Remedy on the PC version of Alan Wake in 2012, and with Microsoft Studios on Ori and The Blind Forest: Definitive Edition (2016), and State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition (2016), we are proud to announce a new triangle-collaboration with two of our trusted partners”, said Reinhard Pollice, Business and Product Development Director for Nordic Games. “Apart from being a new IP (which is always a brave step), Quantum Break turned out to be a sophisticated, visually stunning shooter with a top-notch cast of actors.”

As of right now, it is unknown whether the Steam or special edition can utilize Xbox Play Anywhere feature or if a Steam account is necessary to play the retail copy.
