Sniper Elite 4 Pre-Alpha Gameplay is Here and Looking Brutal

Sniper Elite 4

The latest gameplay teaser from Rebellion brings all swift snipers to Italy and shows more polish, bigger maps and the infamous nut shots, of course.

Eurogamer had a chance to peek over Sniper Elite 4 the other day – and the game is looking as gruesome and intense as ever. Judging by the looks of it, fans of the series will appreciate the distinct atmosphere of the Sniper Elite titles, revamped here with more polished battlegrounds, a brand new story and a greater variety of killing methods. On top of that, they have also incorporated more stealth and the opportunity to inflict huge doses of pain playing around with the environment.

Probably the biggest charm of these games is their use of the Kill Cams (that and the so-called nut shots make quite the combo!). If you appreciate the joys of slow-motion and observing your enemies disintegrate right in front of your eyes, you will like this. Next to the usual bullet camera players will find melee and shrapnel/explosion cameras. The first one will show you the consequences of a furtive knife or fist attack on your victim while the other will keep you amused as you watch beams of flames and debris causing havoc in town.

Sniper Elite 4 will continue with the story and chronology that we left behind in Sniper Elite 3. Players will jump back in time and arrive to the sunny Italy of 1943 where they will incarnate Karl Fairburne, who happens to be the best sniper in the hood. This cheerful fellow will fight side by side with the Italian resistance, opposing the army of Mussolini and easing the path for future Allied reinforcements.

Rebellion is going pretty wild with map sizes this time. The smallest map, shown in the gameplay video, is actually three times the size of the biggest map in Sniper Elite 3. And the biggest playground in the game is allegedly five times as large as its counterpart in the previous title.

Sniper Elite 4 will come later this year to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC although more concrete details about its release date have yet to be confirmed.
