Skullgirls Sponsors $1,000 Cash Prize at SoCal Regionals

Fighting game fans from all over the world are invited to grab their arcade sticks and vie for the first-ever tournament cash prize for AutumnGames‘ and RevergeLabs‘ award-winning, 2D fighter Skullgirls at Level|Up’s SoCal Regionals on Saturday, Dec. 17 in Irvine, Calif.

Having made appearances at tournaments and events across the country,Skullgirls will be featured as a side competition, with the winner taking home a $1,000 prize and bragging rights. Anyone can enter the contest, which will be held at the University of California, Irvine.

Slated for release in early 2012, Skullgirls isa new 2-D fighting game that puts players in control of fierce female warriors. Its development team at Reverge Labs is led by renowned fighting game champion Mike “Mike Z” Zaimont and artist Alex Ahad, whose work has appeared in many publications, including Lava Punch and Girls of Gaming.

SoCal Regionals is one of the largest tournaments in the United States, and is organized by Level|Up, creators of “Wednesday Night Fights,” the premiere fighting game stream. “Level|Up Series presents Wednesday Night Fights: Arcade Edition” currently streams live at 9 p.m. PST on most Wednesday nights, and can be viewed at: http://www.leveluplive.tv/.
