The Secret World Dev Diary: Freeform Progression

Funcom has updated their official Youtube channel with a new developer diary for The Secret World, their forthcoming MMO set in the modern world. The new video focuses on the game’s “freeform progression” which allows players to advance without levels or classes. Lead Designer Martin Bruusgaard and Lead Content Designer Joel Bylos discuss the freedom of character customization through the application of five hundred different abilities available to players, split up into nine different categories ranging from melee and ranged weapons to different types of magic. Although you can learn all of the abilities, you can only equip seven active and seven passive at a time. Still, this allows for a great deal of customization to suit your individual style and let’s you change your combat role on the fly.
