Scorched Earth Presents $12,000 Tournament for Red Orchestra 2

Earlier this week, we gave our verdict on Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad, the WWII PC shooter from Tripwire Interactive that focuses on a more realistic approach to the genre. Today, we’re here to announce that Tripwire is combining with The Wild Bunch to open sign-ups for their first competitive tournament in the game, “Scorched Earth,” with an $8,000 first place prize and a $4,000 second place prize.

The tournament will be a knockout style tournament taking place on the Countdown gametype, where one faction attacks the defending faction’s base and there are no respawns. The tournament will be split up into two divisions: USA and Europe, with the winners of each division battling it out in the Grand Final. All tournament servers are provided exlusively by Gaming Deluxe  for Europe and NFO Servers for the US.

If you’re interested, and chances are that if you’ve been playing Red Orchestra 2 all the way from beta to launch you are, then head on over to the sign-up page and get practicing. If you miss out on your chance to join the tournament, I can only imagine this is the first of many for the PC shooter.
