San Diego Chargers Stadium Gets Renamed to Snapdragon Stadium

That’s right everyone, the San Diego Chargers stadium will be undergoing a name change, but not a permanent one. Popular mobile chip manufacturer Qualcomm, managed to broker a deal with the prestigious stadium for 11 days. They managed to achieve this feat by giving up a smooth $500,000 dollars, or so it’s rumored. Either way I’m surprised and excited about this bold move. The Chargers stadium can hold up to 71,292 people! That’s a lot of eyes looking at one of the best, if not the best, mobile processor chips.

The renaming will start from December 18th and end on December 28th.  During this time the Snapdragon Stadium will be featured on upcoming televised games to include Sunday Night Football with Chargers facing the Baltimore Ravens on Dec. 18, the Poinsettia Bowl on Dec. 21, and the classic Holiday Bowl on Dec. 28. Which will garner them tons of coverage on their awesome products.

Snapdragon processors are in hundreds of products, I mean hundreds, but I can’ t list them all here. So, just to give you an idea of how many there are, I’ll list 21 popular products that feature the Snapdragon processor.

-HP TouchPad
-T-Mobile Galaxy S II
-Galaxy S II Skyrocket
-HTC Vivid
-NTT DoCoMo
-Galaxy S II LTE
-LG Nitro HD
-HP Pre 3
-SHARP AQUOS PHONE IS11SH
-Toshiba REGZA Phone IS11T
-NEC Casio MEDIAS BR IS11N

For approximately 11 days this holiday season starting December 18th, Qualcomm Stadium will be renamed Snapdragon Stadium! That’s right, the San Diego wireless chip giant, which has held the naming rights on the Mission Valley stadium since 1997, is temporarily changing the name from Qualcomm Stadium to Snapdragon Stadium.

Snapdragon is the brand name for the company’s family of application processors that power smartphones. Snapdragon processors by Qualcomm are the digital brains inside mobile devices made by top manufacturers like Samsung, LG, Nokia, and HTC.

During this time the venue will play host to a Chargers Sunday night game against Baltimore along with two college bowl games: the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl (Dec. 21) and the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl (Dec. 28).
