From Rumors To Reality: Quantum Break Confirmed for PC

Quantum Break

If you happen to be a loyal PC gamer and were watching the Xbox One exclusives with a broken heart, suffer no more! Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that they are working with Microsoft to bring Quantum Break to all PCs. The only condition? That you accept the passing of time and jump to Windows 10 once and for all.

Remedy Entertainment is throwing the whole definition of “exclusive” out the window – but this time, it may just be what a lot of us had secretly wanted. The rumors of Quantum Break arriving to the PC platform were not new (remember the Brazilian Rating Board of disgrace?) and they got confirmed yesterday on Twitter by the stakeholders. It’s taking a lot of effort but it’s happening. It will be served as first dish on April this year in a great number of gaming menus out there.

System requirements for this version have also be announced. And yes, it’s a big animal that will require some serious high-spec performance. Which is not a mystery, on the other hand, if you remember that Quantum Break will steal 55 GB of your good hard drive and is packed with quite an immersive and detailed world, high doses of shooting action, cut scenes, an interactive TV show and hours and hours of gameplay.

Quantum Break

The studio has also confirmed that Quantum Break will reign exclusively on Windows 10 – so get ready to jump to the next generation. We will be able to save our progress across the XBox One and PC titles but there won’t be any cross-platform play since the core game does not feature a multiplayer option. The pre-order madness has already started and everyone who pre-orders the console version though the Xbox Store until the 4th of April will receive the Windows 10 version of the game for free, downloadable at the Window Store via a redemption code.

New Quantum Break Trailer: The Cemetery

If these news were not enough for us, Remedy has gone full blast with another short trailer, released yesterday. This one features Jack Joyce, the main protagonist, being haunted by agents from Monarch Solutions who take the fight directly to the cemetery where he is mourning his lost brother. The main premise of the game is the malleability of time and we see here the broken strings and wires of time as Jack turns them into his main weapon to survive the attack of the ambiguous corporation but also, we are told, a world in chaos.

Remember, the time-bending universe of Quantum Break is not a video game experience only but rather, a game/TV show hybrid. As we play it we will unlock 22-minute episodes that will reflect directly the actions/decisions we make inside of that world. It has been revealed that the TV show will focus more on the background of the villains while the game will revolve around the heroes – a clear definition of who is who is still fuzzy and probably for the better. The lead of the cast falls on Shawn Ashmore (X-Men) and Dominic Monaghan (Lord of the Rings). Other famous names, such as Game of Thrones actor Aidan Gillen and Lance Reddick from The Wire, complete an interesting line-up that will probably deliver juicy performances.

Quantum Break
I’ve seen those two bad guys before…

Quantum Break will see light this year already, on April 5th. It has yet to be confirmed whether we will enjoy the perks of having it on Steam although all indicates that this will be a Windows Store exclusive. We’ll see.

Time is power, they say. In this case, we may as well say that patience is a virtue.
