  • “Classic” mode blends the gameplay innovations of the new game with the tactical and edgy gameplay of the original giving the fans of the first game exactly what they want.
  • Mamayev Kurgan – complete new map, featuring both close-quarters battles in trenches and bunkers, as well as longer ranged combat across the famous hill in Stalingrad

Critically acclaimed for its realistic gameplay, Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad (the actual full title) is the sequel to  Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. As you can probably guess from the title, the game centers around the Battle of Stalingrad during World War II. The sequel introduced a host of new features over its predecessor including a first person cover system with blind firing. The game’s realism even extends to the HUD which forgoes the traditional ammo counter forcing players to manually keep track of how many rounds they have left. The new content for Red Orchestra 2: Game of the Year Edition will be downloaded automatically for those who already own the game through Steam. The free weekend starts Thursday May 24 at 10AM Pacific Time and ends Sunday May 27. The extra content should be available before then so that everyone will be able to sample the new stuff.
