Press Start: What We Played for Week 27

Welcome fanatics to Press Start! This is a weekly editorial that dives into what we here at The Game Fanatics have been playing. No spoilers on the newer games that we’re playing but we will give you a quick insight on how good or bad it is. Games will range from retro to new, casual to FPS, we play it all!

Henry:

Battlefield 3 now that it’s free for PS+ members. You can’t go wrong with a free game, especially if you like shooters it’s worth at least a try. Although it’s not as stylistically appealing, it’s 10 times better than COD in my opinion.

Joel:

Finally got to play some The Last of Us multiplayer and it was fun. Played with some fellow Fanatics and we were owned by a few good players. Jumped back into Dragon Age II as a Mage and I have re-discovered my love for this game. Have also been playing Guild Wars 2 as an Elementalist which is fun but difficult.

Jake:

ALL THE ANIMAL CROSSING!

Jen:

I finished up Deadpool this week. The game is a lot of fun but it can get a bit frustrating and repetitive. But still, a must play for Deadpool fans. I completely forgot that Nolan North did the voice for Deadpool and he did a fantastic job at it. Overall, I would have to give Deadpool a 7.5 out of 10. I played a lot of SWTOR this weekend since their double experience started on Thursday. However with my modem dying that same night, I had to make a mad dash to Wal-Mart if I wanted to play this weekend. I got my bounty hunter, Hayle up to level 45. Right now, she’s about to start a planet where the max level cap is 41. She’s leveling faster than I can make money for her upgrades.

Ben:

I started a new playthrough of Fez but on the PC this time. I’m pretty sure it is my favorite indie game this generation. It’s an open world platforming game with crazy puzzles that everyone should check out. Go now. Anyway, I was finally able to get everything in the game this time instead of having a glitch cheat me out of one item like it did on the Xbox. I also dabbled in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. It is a really fantastic kart racer and much better than the recent Mario Karts we’ve been getting. Plus, I’m a sucker for Sega nostalgia. And yes, more Animal Crossing for no reason.

Darrin:

Battlefield 3 and Saints Row 3, because of PS Plus. Battlefield is fun as long as I’m not dealing with people in jets. I’ve never been able to get into SR, and The Third isn’t really doing it for me either.

Arnell:

During a Fourth of July party, I introduced a lot of new people I met to the Wii U and Game & Wario. They all had a blast playing it. Other than that, spent tons of hours playing Project X Zone. The fights are getting longer and tougher. I just beat chapter 23 (a little passed half of the game) and I’ve already clocked over 30 hours of game play.

Luis:

I just added a third playthrough of The Last of Us under my belt, but this time on Survivor +. My goal was to snag the Platinum trophy before the end of Sunday and I got close. I just have two more trophies to go. I also sprinkled in some Animal Crossing and Real Racing 3 throughout the week.
