Play Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 Through EA Access

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2

The funny spin-off of EA arrives on the 23rd of February but some lucky ones can already try it.

We are only a few days away of getting into the insane world of Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 and EA has decided to open the gates of the battlefield with a new trailer and a sweet announcement for all players with EA Access or Origin Access memberships. If you happen to own one, you are automatically granted a 10 hour free trial starting today (plus a 10% discount). Good news is that if you end up liking the game and purchasing it, your progress will be saved without any problem.

Bad news is that ten hours do not last very long…and they count for as long as you have the game open. So use that precious time wisely!

If trials are not your thing you can also wait for the official launch, happening already on the 23rd of this month for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2: the Plants Strike Back!

For the very first time in the history of the game, the plant tribe has been outnumbered by the stinking hordes of the undead and they are on the retaliating side. Backyard Battleground is the hub of the game, their base of operations or, as the folks from EA tell us, “our personal and interactive playground.” From here we will access the multiplayer and single-player modes, a challenge board to earn experience points, the in-game store and much more. Backyard Battleground also leaves room for surprise and we are encouraged to explore it at our own pace, unblocking new features and quests as we progress.

Of course the central element of the game remains the wacky reality of garden warfare that has made this title so popular. In this respect, the game is betting high on the multiplayer aspect and bringing 24-player battles (the so-called Herbal Assault mode) and also a 4-player co-op mode, Graveyard Ops, in which we will change sides and defend the zombie stand. There is also a King of the Hill-inspired mode for those who enjoy defeating wave after wave of enemies like there’s no tomorrow.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 give us 12 maps, 6 new character classes and over 100 playable characters in total (whether these numbers will grow after a DLC harvest remains to be seen). Probably one of the most attractive aspects of the game lies in this variety of characters and abilities and how we combine our troops depending on the challenge we are facing. This is the essence of the first title that saw light back in 2009 and the spirit that still prevails nowadays.

Because Plants vs. Zombies can be witty and have a casual appearance, yes. They can certainly launch a trailer featuring Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” and be prankish about it all. But Plants vs. Zombies remains, above all, a very strategic game.
