Persona 5 Delayed Until April 2017

Fans looking forward to Persona 5, please don’t shoot the messenger. The upcoming PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 JRPG, a game that has been pushed back plenty already, is officially getting delayed again by developer and publisher ATLUS.

In an official announcement by the developer, the fifth installment of the critically acclaimed spin-off series of Shin Megami Tensei – think Pokemon if it was rated M for Mature and was more unforgiving – stated that they simply needed more time and have decided to change the release date from February 14, 2017 to April 4, 2017. But there will be a bonus for this additional two month wait. Originally the North American release of the game would only feature Japanese audio with subtitles, but now as part of the wait the game will feature dual audio options of both English and Japanese.

For those who have grown sick of waiting on Persona 5, this isn’t exactly shocking. The game was originally scheduled to launch back in 2015 on the PlayStation 3 for goodness’ sake. But considering the amount of quality and polish that the series is known for alongside their intelligent and insightful character studies, this is a speed bump in the road to enjoying some shadow slaying goodness that can be gladly endured. Although in light of the recent video game voice-actor strike currently in progress, there may be more hurdles left to clear before that can happen.
