Payday 3 is Officially in Production

Payday 3

Swedish publisher Starbreeze is on fire! One week ago they confirmed they were publishing Psychonauts 2 and today they just announced that Payday 3 has entered into full production mode. This news doesn’t catch us off guard if we remember that back in June they announced Payday 3 would indeed be happening. But it’s very sweet nevertheless.

“It is with great satisfaction that we also can announce that Payday 3 production is officially initiated and at a full design stage,” CEO Bo Andersson Klint has declared as part of their last financial report.  He has also run ahead and cut further time-related murmurs with the following statements: “I’d like to especially clarify, that this project will enjoy as much time as we deem needed. It will be done when it’s done. This is our single most important brand today and the cornerstone of our business and we will treat it accordingly. Updates in the near future might be scares and far between.”

The fact that the project is moving forward is great news. That they are taking it seriously and not committing to any given date, even better. Like, really. Because as with any heist that you want to see through, “you simply don’t rush Payday 3.”

Payday 3 Will Add to the Established Formula

It’s still too early to hypothesize about any additions or changes that Payday 3 may bring to the franchise. If they are to follow their successful formula, it’s most likely that the next game will also feature a core of 4-player co-op and enhanced gameplay systems. Since the Payday franchise transfer from Overkill to Starbreeze, Payday 2 has still received a lot of love from devs who have continuously worked on a number of free and paid updates. One of their most cherished changes was, for instance, the deletion of performance boosting microtransactions.

On their statement, Starbreeze also confirms that 2017 is looking good for them, especially on the publishing front. Regarding the latest Psychonauts 2 news, Klint also mentioned that his team is “constantly looking to attract leading teams” to their publishing business. He claims that we’ll see more deals coming out of Starbreeze. How does that sound to you, Fanatics?
