Nintendo Announces Hyrule Warriors, a Zelda/Dynasty Warriors Mashup

Well, that was unexpected. During today’s Nintendo Direct video, Nintendo dropped a small, blue bomb when they announced Hyrule Warriors, a collaboration with Tecmo Koei that kinda-sorta brings The Legend of Zelda into the Dynasty Warriors fold, with gameplay to match:

Details are obviously still light, but Hyrule Warriors is set for a 2014 release. Nintendo says the game will not be a part of the main Zelda canon, and is not the Wii U Zelda game we’ve heard is in development for some time. It’s also something I didn’t even realize I wanted until this very moment.
