New XCOM 2 Expansion Now Available

2K and Firaxis Games have released the new expansion, War of the Chosen, for their 2016 award-winning strategy title XCOM 2.

The latest add-on brings a handful of new content to an already packed game. In their fight against the new alien threat since called “Chosen”, players will have new resistance factions to chose from; all of which have their own unique classes. And what’s a war without weapon and comrades? The add-on also includes two new weapons and an option to create bonds between soldiers.

Here’s what said Matt Gorman, VP of Marketing at 2K had to say:

“With XCOM 2: War of the Chosen, Firaxis has developed a series-defining expansion to the award-winning XCOM franchise. With a multitude of gameplay advances and new experiences, Firaxis Games has continued to redefine XCOM 2’s endlessly replayable campaign.”

Jake Solomon, creative director of XCOM 2, added:

“We can’t wait for fans to get their hands on XCOM 2: War of the Chosen. The array of added features, enemies, and allies give players a completely new tool set to employ tactics and strategies as they dive into the expanded narrative. In addition, we’re excited about the new Challenge mode that will let players hone their tactical skills against other players around the world,”

Here’s quick breakdown of everything included:

  • Three new factions: the Reapers, Skirmishers and Templars
  • New alien army: The Chosen. The new alien army has three distinct classes: The Hunter (pretty self-explanatory), The Warlock (has psionic skills) and The Assassin (Stealth melee based killer equipped with a deadly katana). They have the ability to kidnap, interrogate and ultimately kill XCOM’s soldiers.
  • New enemy threat: Spectre. He can summon swarms of the Lost to take over the battlefield and make quick work of your factions
  • Take pictures of your crew via the Photo Booth
