New Metro: Last Light Screenshots

THQ may be having troubles of its own, but the company’s Metro: Last Light looks fantastic. The sequel to 2010’s post-apocalyptic first-person shooter Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light (no relation to Metro 2034, the sequel to the book that Metro 2033 was based upon) is getting nearer and nearer to release. The overwhelming atmosphere, unique handling of ammunition, and strange happenings are sure to return. In the screens below, you can see that the world hasn’t gotten much better since the events of the last game. Corpses litter the landscape, trees are dried and brittle, and what few buildings remain are crumbling and burning. The world Developer 4A Games and Author Dmitry Glukhovsky have created is one where every inch is a grisly reminder of one’s mortality. Check out the gallery below to see for yourself.

Metro: Last Light is set to release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC March 2013. Stacked against the likes of new a new Bioshock, Metal Gear, and Naughty Dog’s own take on the apocalypse with E3 favorite The Last of Us, it’s facing stiff competition, but if there’s one thing that the team behind Metro knows… it’s how to survive.
