New Assassin’s Creed Movie Trailer and Poster Revealed

Assassin's Creed movie

A new trailer and poster for the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed movie has been released.

The feature film set to debut in late December follows Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) as he experiences adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th-century Spain.  As anyone who has played the game can surely guess, there may be some drama unfolding around him in both the present day as well as with Aguilar.

The trailer gives us glimpses of costars Marion Cotillard and Michael K. Williams as well as more of the amazing aerial stunts in the Assassin’s Creed movie.  Featuring jaw-dropping rooftop stunts and an impressive array of weapons including axes, arrows, torches and, of course, the signature daggers. For fans of the series it is a visual feast.  It hits all of the high notes from the game that has us anxiously awaiting for late December to roll around.

Fassbender’s character, a career criminal, is recruited into a secret society of warriors, the Templars.  The Templar organization, wants to tap into the memories of his ancient relative so he can fight in the Spanish Inquisition; naturally!  A plot like that can spin anyone unfamiliar with game for a loop.  As impressive as the visuals are, the outstanding cast really sets it apart from other video game movies.  Impressive visuals can wow audiences, however without substance to the story the movie will fail to connect.  The outstanding cast of the Assassin’s Creed movie is perhaps the most exciting thing to see play out onscreen; which says a lot when the movie features death defying stunts and assassin daggers.

Video game movies often have a poor track record with audiences. As fans of gaming and movies each time a movie based on a game is released we cross our fingers and hope for the best. Unfortunately that tends to leave us with mostly disappointing results.  Assassin’s Creed shows an enormous amount of promise, lets just hope they can stick the landing! Assassin’s Creed opens December 21st with hopes of shaking off the dreaded video game movie curse.
