More Details and First Screenshots Of Batman: Arkham Origins

A few hours ago our jaws dropped at the announcement of Batman: Arkham Origins, and now we’ve got  first-ever screenshots to feast our eyes on.

Batman: Arkham Origins takes place before the previous installments, with a “young and unrefined” Batman early on his crime-fighting career. The game will introduce us to new characters and villains that have never been playable in any video game prior, as well as those we’re quite familiar with.

As the story unfolds, players will meet many important characters for the first time and forge key relationships.

The “Arkhamverse” will be expanded upon with two new areas: New Gotham and Old Gotham,  spanning a large, open world. We’re told that Old Gotham is the Arkham City of the previous game, prior to its being turned into a prison city. The map of  Batman: Arkham Origins is said to be double that of the previous installments.

New side missions will also be a part of Batman: Arkham Origins; the specific ones we know of right now are the “Crimes in Progress” and “Most Wanted” side missions. Crimes in Progress expands upon the similar system in Arkham City where you can choose to attend to or ignore current crimes, and Most Wanted gives you the ability to hunt down and capture villains in the DC universe that are not integral to the Arkham story arc.

The screenshots below include Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (the Vita and 3DS counterparts being developed by Armature Studio) as well as Batman: Arkham Origins.

How excited are you for Batman: Arkham Origins?
