MLB 13: The Show Receives Welcomed Changes to Road to the Show Mode

Every year PlayStation players are rewarded with new installments of MLB The Show. Annually beating out Major League Baseball 2K, the developers at Sony’s San Diego Studios are hard at work trying to revamp their always engrossing Road to the Show mode. MLB 13: The Show‘s Road to the Show allows the players to create their own player, or themselves, and place them into the real life of an up and coming baseball player. In order to keep their win streak alive and continue revolutionizing simulated sports games, the developers at Sony have given us a peak at some of the upcoming changes to their Road to the Show mode through their Dev Blog.

mlb new camera angle

The biggest difference seen so far is the camera angle. The first example shown was the new outfielding camera angles when a ball is hit your way. Instead of seeing a target on the floor and having to scramble over to in time, the players will now see the ball as if really fielding. Your eyes follow the ball and give you that feeling of running the field and timing your catch right. Same has been done with hitting and base-running  The player gets to follow the ball with the camera and run the bases simultaneously to allow the player to decide if it is safe to keep running or to stop at the base they have reached. The new camera angle really makes a huge difference and brings a whole new experience to the players performance allowing them to make better decisions when base-running and fielding.

Achievement Goals have also received a revamp to make it easier for players to earn training points by rewarding players for certain major achievements throughout their careers. For example, pitchers no longer have any batting goals, and when a batter hits his first double or home run. The developers keep adding more realism to this game including over 1000 new sound effects and the difference in crowd noise from minors to majors. These changes will be very well received by fans of the series due to the amount of feedback the developers have taken into consideration. MLB 13: The Show is looking to keep the series on top of the simulated sports genre.

MLB 13: The Show will be released March 5, 2013 exclusively for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
