Mass Effect is Getting a 4D Attraction at California’s Great America

California’s Great America theme park will be getting a 4D holographic attraction based off the Mass Effect franchise thanks to a partnership between EA and Great America.

The Mass Effect attraction at California’s Great America will be opening in 2016, and will rely on a combination of live performers and 4D effects to bring the experience to life. The attraction will be, “…a thrilling adventure across the galaxy where they will travel through awe-inspiring landscapes, face off against bigger than life adversaries and ultimately help save the day,” according to Great America.

Raul Renborg, Vice President and General Manager of Great America said, “this combination of technology and creative video game content is sure to usher in a new wave of entertainment innovation at amusement parks.”

EA and BioWare are working in tandem with Great America to create this new 4D attraction. Patrick O’Brien, Vice President of Entertainment and Licensing at EA, said, “having a partner who shares our commitment to thrilling our fans is extremely important to us and we look forward to building an attraction that will appeal to the Mass Effect fan-base and introduce it to many more.”

If this ‘committed’ partnership is to believed, BioWare and EA will be making sure that the Mass Effect franchise will be treated properly — no masculine Asaris, or any other lore inconsistencies, Great America; I’m watching you.

This news would seem a lot weirder had Ubisoft not announced plans on creating an entire theme park in Malaysia based around their properties. I guess theme parks are the new season pass?
