Mass Effect Andromeda Has A New Graphics Engine, And No Returning Cast

Bioware have made it clear that Mass Effect Andromeda is not a continuation of the trilogy, and will not have any returning cast members.

Senior Development Director Chris Wyn  aptly pointed out that having a returning cast of characters would, “story wise, not make much sense.” The world of Mass Effect has mastered to art space travel, but not on a galactic level. This means that the characters for the trilogy are stuck in the Milky Way, whilst these new characters are in the Andromeda Galaxy. So, plot and science have stopped us ever seeing any familiar faces.

So instead, we will get to enjoy a whole new leading character and supporting cast in Mass Effect Andromeda.

Mass Effect Andromeda is coming to only the current gen of consoles and PC. So, the increased power of the Xbox One and PS4, alongside the PC‘s power, means fans are expecting a notable graphical boost for the game; Bioware has not disappointed. Mass Effect Andromeda is taking a while longer to create than the others in the series, and the reason is the brand new graphics engine the team is using. The complexities of using a new engine on top of the process of rebuilding the whole game means the game is rightfully taking longer to make.

The sci-fi title is undergoing some serious changes. A brand new leveling up experience, a superior ending to Mass Effect 3 (although, that’s not too difficult to achieve) and a whole new coat of paint. All this makes the game exciting for fans and its going to be interesting to see what Bioware can do with this new tech.
