Macken Movie Update – Ubisoft taking over the Silver Screen

Wanna hear a Joke? Game

to Movie Adaptations

Game to movie adaptation are rarely any good, but it doesn’t stop every single game concept being bought up by all the top Hollywood studios. But lately, all that happens is a hint of a script, a director will be mentioned and a few cast rumours will circulate. However after this the news just stops, and you never hear another thing about it.

So it seems Ubisoft isn’t taking this S*** anymore, and has become determined to become there own movie makers. After starting there own Film studio branch in January, the Game developers have claimed to begin development on three of there top games. Splinter cell, Assassins creed and Ghost recon, are in the development stages and are apparently on there way to the silver screen. Assassins creed is even set to have a complete script, and to be ready for filming by the end of the year.

Ubisoft isn’t taking the idea likely either. Since there announcements, the Companies big bosses are set to meet with top movie studio’s and writer agencies in LA.

The new head of Ubisofts film division ‘Jean-Julien Baronnet‘ (former CEO of Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp) told Variety “We want to keep ownership, retain control over the film content, and we’re open to work with studios on the development of our projects, and eventually collaborate on the pre-casting, pre-budget and script,”.

Its looking like the days of the half-arsed Game movies are over, and its time for the studios from the source of the creation to give it ago. But they wont be alone, since other game franchises are also joining suit. Check out the latest trailer for the Tekken’s animated feature length film.

More updates on Ubisoft’s attempt to take over the Cinematic world, as we have them.
