Macken Movie Update: Comic-con Movie Speculation

COMIC-KAHN!!!!!!!!!!

Comic-con. The Goliath of Conventions which unites Comic book, Game and Movie fanatics under one roof and pumps out a slurry of sneak peeks and titillating teasers to cause the Mack Daddy of Global Nerdgasm’s. There’s always mystery in the air, and a calm before the storm on the shores of Comic-con. Fueled by popular demand and a Hoard of Geeks far past what the eye can see, followed by a sea of discomposure & the Alluring scent of Tiberius Kirk brand Cologne.

Movies is always a large part of the conventions, and there’s always speculation prior to the event, as to who and what will be shown. Which is were I come in, as I’m here to provide all the gossip for the event so far.

So this is what we Kinda know:

At the event in San Diego there will be presentations shown by a selection of top movie producers, which will be brand new and never before seen by public eye.

One of the most exciting Suggestions is the apparent appearance from Legendary Films and there movie adaptation of Hit Game ‘Mass Effect’. According to a press release from Legendary, there will be a first peak at the film and a Panel. Which will include attendance from the film’s screenwriter Mark Protosevich, as well as one of the lead creators of the game Casey Hudson.

Chris Evans will be present for the release of Captain America: First Avenger, so you can expect the typical Panel & Signing of autographs. However there has also been quite a few rumours suggesting that there will be a screening of the film at the convention, since the film releases in cinemas in the same week. If this is true, then these fans are in for quite a treat.

The Prequel to end all Sequels ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ will be showcasing its talent. Expect some time with leading star ‘James Franco’ and director ‘Rupert Wyatt’. But 20th Century is going to have to make some kind of impression with there monkeys to keep attention of Universal/Jon Favreau’s big screen blockbuster Cowboys & Aliens. Which will most likely have attendance of leading stars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. My suggestion to Rise of the Apes, put up an UFC style Ape fight. Ape fights are much more entertaining then CGI aliens…might want to watch out for PETA thou.

Sadly, its quite likely that two of the most anticipated Comic book movies ‘Batman: Dark Knight Rises’ & ‘Man of Steel’ are not going to make a performance. Mainly due to the limited time they’ve been in production, and the unlikeliness that there going to have anything to show. However, we Know that Henry Cavill will be there for the promotion of his latest feature ‘Immortals’. And there is no way in Hell, that someone wont ask him about the Red & Blue tights.

Alex Proyas & Dark City helmers adaptation of Classic novel/poem ‘Paradise Lost’ has been rumoured to make an appearance, and with A-Team/Limitless star Bradley Cooper it doesn’t sound half bad. Little is known about the project, So, I’m gonna stop talking.

Lionsgate new thriller ‘Abduction’ staring Twilight kid ‘Taylor Lautner’ will also be on show for its September release. The film looks to follow the typical modern day thriller, with conventional twist. But, hey! If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it. The film, which is directed by John Singleton, also features Sigourney Weaver. My philosophy since I saw Aliens & Ghostbusters as a young boy, is if it has Sigourney Weaver its usually going to be good. I know your thinking its a silly philosophy, but its hasn’t steered me wrong yet. Lionsgate have also promised a Panel with Joel Edgerton & Tom Hardy for there future release ‘Warrior’. Cant someone do me a favour and ask if ‘Fighter’ was a big influence? Oh, and whilst Hardys there. See if he’ll give us a little on Bane?

Finally there’s something on Twilight: Breaking Dawn, but my Mega Loathing for what Vampires have become is possessing my hand and forcing me to stop. All I will say is that if you wanna see a March of the Penguins style migration of Twilight fans, go sit outside the Convention.

Well there’s obviously going to be more, and granted some of these are speculation. But Comic-con never fails to deliver the goods, so just sit back and let the teasers & reveals flood in.

PEACE!
