Lemony Snicket’s ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ is Now Out on Netflix!

Join Count Olaf and the Baudelaire children in Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events now available on Netflix.

It has been a little over two years since Netflix announced the acquisition of A Series of Unfortunate Events. Today, we have the end product available to all Netflix subscribers. Shortly after, a mysterious teaser appeared online. This teaser is considered to be fan-made but it’s hard to say for sure. Then a year later, Netflix released the first official teaser online.

Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events is a thirteen novel children series from the early 2000’s. The series follows siblings Violet, Klaus, and Sunny who are thrown into various treacheries after their parents pass away. Initially, the Baudelaires are left with Count Olaf, a relative who has a hidden agenda to acquire their parent’s fortune. The novels follow the children as they move from relative to relative as Count Olaf continues to show up in their lives. To get a better feel of the plot check out the official trailer below!

You may remember the 2004 film under the same name starring Jim Carry. It was successful, but never saw a sequel. Meanwhile, Paramount did have plans for a sequel, but it never happened due to various strikes at the time. In short, Netflix worked with Paramount to revive the series to bring it all with today’s release.

The 2004 film of A Series of Unfortunate Events only covered the first three books. The Netflix series will be covering the first four books in eight episodes. Have no fear, fans, for the author of the books, Daniel Handler, is serving as an Executive Producer. That should put some ease on the adaptation. In case that doesn’t, take note that early reviews are very positive. Those reviews are currently sitting at an 84 on Metacritic and a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Starring Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf, Patrick Warburton as Lemony Snicket, Malina Weismann as Violet Baudelaire, Louis Hynes as Klaus Baudelaire and Presley Smith as Sunny Baudelaire, all eight episodes of A Series of Unfortunate Events are now out on Netflix in Ultra 4k and HDR.
