Lake-town Invades The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth

The popular mobile game The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth has just received some extra content based upon the upcoming final chapter of The Hobbit trilogy. On top of this expansion, Kabam and Warner Brothers Interactive also have a companion app full of Middle-Earth information.

This The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth expansion is, as the name would suggest, adding Lake-town to the mobile map. The list of additions this new villa will bring includes new quests, resource acquirement opportunities, film-accurate locations within the town and new characters, such as Bard, included for your party consideration. Executive producer Weiwei Geng highlights in a statement the focus of the teams on making the player “feel immersed in the world.” He states that Kabam worked “very closely” with Warner Interactive to grab even the smallest visual details from the films and have them be present in this update.

The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth

Anyone that wants to preview the Lake-town expansion, or find just about anything on this free-to-play title, will now have The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth Magazine as an app reference. Available in 15 different languages, both companies want this to be the place fans of the game go to find official news, behind-the-scenes material and tips for the battlefield. Both apps are available on all capable mobile devices.

Some numbers were also released, supporting The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth as a popular, and profitable, title for Kabam. Since the game’s Nov. 2012 release, there has been a gross profit of over $100 million. Inside this strategy title, over 1.7 million alliances have been created, 29 million cities have risen and over 7 million battles happen every day. For those that haven’t played, The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth is a strategy title that allows players to team together fan-favorites such as Gandalf, Legolas and Thorin to amass a powerful, able kingdom within Middle-Earth.
