Jade Raymond Starts Studio at EA to Work on Star Wars

Jade Raymond has started her own studio at Electronic Arts. If you don’t recognize the name, Raymond previously worked as the head of Ubisoft Toronto.

Motive Studios will be working on a big project with another person who isn’t new to the industry. Raymond will be working with BioWare and Amy Hennig on a new Star Wars game.

For those who don’t know Amy Hennig, she was the previous Creative Director on the Uncharted franchise. Shortly after her departure from Naughty Dog, she had announced she would be working with EA on a Star Wars game. In Raymond’s announcement, she confirmed her new studio Motive would be the studio to bring that game to fruition.

“I’ve also known Amy for years and have admired her work on the Uncharted games!,” Raymond said on the new studio’s website. “I’m thrilled that the first big project that we will work on in Montreal will have Amy as Creative Director. An opportunity to work with her and the Visceral team, and to play in the Star Wars universe, is once-in-a-lifetime stuff.”

Not only will Raymond be starting Motive Studios to work on Star Wars, she will also be overseeing another EA studio.

“In addition to building the new Motive Studio in Montreal, I will also oversee the Visceral studio in California,” Raymond said. “I’m a huge fan of the games that have come out of Visceral and I feel honoured to be working with such a talented team led by studio GM Scott Probst.”

It looks like Hennig’s Star Wars game is in full development with the announcement of Motive Studios. What do you want to see in the new Star Wars game? Let us know in the comments below!
