HyperX Brings the Fury With New SSD and Headset

HyperX is well-known around these parts for making some of the most impressive memory and SSD’s designed with gamers in mind.

Back in January they unveiled the first in their Fury line of products targeting gamers on a budget. The HyperX Fury DDR3 memory is available in 1333MHz, 1600MHz, and 1866MHz and comes in 8GB and 16GB kits. The HyperX Fury memory is replacing the former HyperX BLU line and will be their entry-level offering below the incredible high-end HyperX Predator series.

We got to sit down with HyperX at PAX East this year and they gave us the inside scoop on their new lineup of Fury SSDs. It utilizes the well-known SandForce SF-2281 LSI Flash controller that you’ll find in most high-end SSDs on the market today. It also features synchronous NAND (SyncNAND) that will help you get into the game faster. In HyperX’s overall lineup the Fury line is classified as their entry level offering below the 3K and Predator PCIe SSDs but from what we’ve been told it’s certainly no slouch. It’s targeted for release this May in 128GB and 256GB capacities, but that is subject to change.

HyperX Cloud

But that’s not all HyperX had for us on the show floor. They were also quite eager to show off their new gaming headset, the HyperX Cloud. The Cloud was developed in collaboration with QPAD, one of the better-known accessory manufacturers in Europe. If you’re familiar with any of the Beyerdynamic line of headphones you’ll find a welcomed sight in the HyperX Cloud.

The Cloud features memory foam ear cushions, which is great for long gaming sessions or any gamers who use prescription glasses or GUNNAR Optiks when gaming. It’s a fully closed headset, which means it’s great at blocking outside noise and it keeps you focused on the game. The drivers in the headset are huge coming in at 53mm, so you can be sure these things can put out incredible detail while still delivering solid bass.

HyperX gave a short gaming session with the Cloud on the show floor and the quality shown was very impressive. Even in the noisy PAX East exhibitor hall a quick Titanfall session was clearly audible. The Cloud has proven to be a great choice for marathon gaming sessions and are very comfortable even while wearing glasses. The individual qualities will be tested when they’re available later this year, here at TGF.

You can pre-order the HyperX Cloud now on Newegg for $99.99 and it starts shipping Monday. The HyperX Fury SSDs will be available sometime later this year.
