Heart of the Swarm Expansion For StarCraft II Arrives March 12, 2013

Just when you thought it was safe to turn your focus away from Starcraft II for a moment, Blizzard Entertainment pulls you back in. Heart of the Swarm has finally been dated.

Blizzard has announced that StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm will be available March 12, 2013 for $39.99. A digital deluxe edition is available for $59.99, while the physical special edition will run you $79.99. For those that missed out on the original, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, you can pick up the two titles for $59.99 through Blizzard’s store.

The expansion will feature a new single-player campaign based on Sarah Kerrigan. Also available are new multiplayer units, plus the ability to customize and manipulate just how the zerg develop. As previously mentioned, HotS will come in three versions: a Standard Edition; a Digital Deluxe Edition that also throws in a bonus skin, some portraits, your own pet Baneling f0r your World of Warcraft character, and blade wings and a banner sigil for your Diablo III character. The retail-exclusive Collector’s Edition that throws in everything from the Digital Deluxe Edition plus an art book, mouse pad, soundtrack, and a behind-the-scenes Blu-Ray/DVD set.

The expansion comes out on March 12, 2013 for PC and Mac, but you can pre-order the Standard and Digital Deluxe versions of Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm now through Battle.net.
