Beta Testers Needed for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

A revamped version of Final Fantasy XIV, Square Enix‘s MMORPG, is opening up its beta version for fans who want to give the title another go.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn literally indicates with its title that this is a do-over of the original game which, as you may remember, was released more than a couple years ago (but most likely you’re still trying to forget.) Met with disappointment by fans who expected more from the franchise, the game’s dismal number of active subscribers caused the company to reassess the elements that lent to its resulting renovation.

Some screenshots and concept art from Beta Testers Needed for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm RebornFinal Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn have surfaced since it was featured at last year’s Gamescom, but Square Enix has announced their recruitment of beta testers to sign up and try the game before its release for Windows PC and PlayStation 3.

The beta test will be broken into four phases. Players on a PlayStation 3 will be able to begin the beta with the third phase. Windows PC testers will need a machine that meets the minimum system requirements of the game and a broadband connection to accommodate the large patch downloads. PS3 users obviously will need a console with internet connection, although available free space on the PlayStation 3 HDD has yet to be determined.

Register to be chosen as a tester now at the Beta Tester Application Site . Remember, participants are chosen on a first come, first serve basis, so get all the details and make sure your feedback is heard before your seat upon a chocobo is taken!

For more information about the new story, worlds, characters, and more, head over to the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s official website.
