Final Fantasy XII Returns On PS4

Rumors about Final Fantasy XII getting the remastered treatment have been circulating the internet for awhile now. Today, Square Enix confirmed these rumors to be true when the company unveiled Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age coming to PlayStation 4 systems in 2017.

Earlier today, the trailer for Final Fantasy XII‘s remaster went live on YouTube, opening up with the iconic Final Fantasy opening we know and love.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age isn’t just some simple PlayStation 2 port either; the battle system has been reworked and an improved job system is in place. For the first time, North America and Europe regions can experience the International Version of Final Fantasy XII.

The Zodiac Age incorporates all the features found in the International Version, so players in North America and Europe can go hands-on with The Zodiac Job System, Trial Mode and more.

Updated Graphics

“We’re thrilled to give players a chance to return to Ivalice in Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age, so we’ve updated the visuals to full HD resolution, including the environments, characters, and movie scenes to make sure they look their best on PlayStation 4.”

Newly recorded soundtrack

“Final Fantasy XII’s soundtrack features some of the most beloved songs in the series’ history, and this was a perfect opportunity to revisit its epic score. We’ve re-recorded FFXII’s background music using the current generation of sound production, now in true 7.1 surround. For the purists out there, you have the option to switch between the new and original versions of the score at any time.”

In addition to these features, modern additions will also be put in place such as trophies, Share opportunities, quicker load times and so much more. If there was ever a time to experience Final Fantasy XII, the PlayStation 4 version would be the perfect opportunity to do so.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age won’t grace PlayStation 4 consoles until some time in 2017.
