The Elder Scrolls Announcements at BE3 | E3 2016

At the Bethesda E3 showcase, a few key announcements were made regarding the Elder Scrolls series. More particularly, regarding Elder Scrolls Legends, a special edition of Skyrim and more content for Elder Scrolls Online.

Elder Scrolls Legends is a online CCG set in the world of Tamriel.  It was announced that they would be letting more people into the beta soon and to sign up on the official website. Players will battle with cards in a two lane battlefield. There is going to be a fully featured single player campaign mode with an original story. The campaign trailer featured a group of characters discussing the prophecies of the Elder Scrolls. In addition to the story mode, players will be able to battle versus the AI and other players. Elder Scrolls Legends is coming to iPhone, Mac, PC, and Android tablets and phones later this year.

In Skyrim news, Bethesda will be releasing  a special edition of the game with updated graphics for current gen consoles. The games will also make use of user created modifications. The Special Edition trailer showed PlayStation 3 footage and compared it to the more dynamic PlayStation 4 version. The updated graphics will feature snow and water shaders, dynamic depth of field and other enhancements.

On June 23rd, Elder Scrolls Online will launch in Japan, opening the game up to a myriad of new users. Additionally, the console versions will be getting the Dark Brotherhood DLC, featuring a quest line involving the popular group. The Dark Brotherhood was a memorable questline from The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. The Dark Brotherhood is a group that lives in the shadows of Tamriel performing assassinations. The trailer reminds us that no one in Tamriel is safe.

Wrapping up the Elder Scrolls Online announcements is One Tamriel, which will level the playing field for current and future players. This Fall all level restrictions for quests will be lifted. Once players finish the initial tutorial, the rest of the game will be completely open to all players. This is the first time something like this has been enacted in an MMO, and should encourage more players to explore what Tamriel has to offer.
