E3 2014 | Hands on With Bayonetta 2 And the Nintendo-Exclusive Features

Bayonetta was one of the best third person fighting games of our time. Bayonetta 2 looks to take this fast paced over the top action game to the next level and after playing it at E3, I couldn’t be more pleased.

Bayonetta 2 is clearly a visual step up from the original with particle and water effects here to show off. The game runs very well and for one as quick as this, that is very important. The fluidity of combat is back and taking out foes with increasingly ridiculous combos was great. As was perfectly dodging attacks which was still very important. And the bosses are just as big and crazy as ever with multiple stages and everything you would expect.

The biggest new addition, besides new weapons, is the Witchmode which is very similar to devil trigger in Devil May Cry. For a short time Bayonetta’s attacks will spread all around the battlefield. Pretty much everything in sight is in range of these huge attacks.

It was a ton of fun and made me feel confident in this new entry. Wii U gamers better check this out because otherwise they will be missing an action game tour de force. The inclusion of the original Bayonetta is icing on a very very sweet cake.

Speaking of the original, now there are bonus Nintendo-related costumes. I got to play in the Peach costume and it does more than just change Bayonetta’s appearance, her hair attacks are replaced with Bowser’s limbs. The halos that act as currency are replaced by the coins from Mario. It’s cool to see just because it makes no sense for it to be there. There is also an unlockable Link costume as well.

Make sure you check out Bayonetta 2 when it releases in October exclusively for the Wii U.
