E3 2012 | The Showdown Effect Uses Built-In TwitchTV Integration

Paradox Interactives latest title, The Showdown Effect, plans to blaze a new path in Esports and gaming spectatorship with built in integration to TwitchTV right from the game’s dashboard.

According to Fred Wester, the CEO of Paradox Interactive, The Showdown Effect is a multiplayer game “inspired by 80’s and 90’s action movies and packed with weird and wild weapons from frying pans and broomsticks to light sabers and shotguns; it really lends itself to a spectator driven medium like TwitchTV“, which means that The Showdown Effect is a big departure from Paradox Interactive’s flagship titles such as Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings, the Hearts of Iron series, Magicka, Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim and the upcoming War of the Roses.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 5th, at 12:00pm (presumably PST time since it’s going to be at E3) The Showdown Effect will be streaming via TwitchTV’s stage, which is the perfect time to see how the cutting edge integration and game will work together.

What do you think? Should more competitive and spectator-friendly games include streaming integration or is this going too far? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
