E3 2010: Top Ten Games We Are Looking Forward to

In about two weeks, E3 2010 will be among us, and yes we will be attending, as media. We will make sure to give you the best coverage we can show. Now this is our first trip, so the first day will probably be really crazy for us. No worries though, you will get tons of news. With that out of the way, we, here at TheGameFanatics, decided to put together a top ten list on our favorite games to be shown E3. Do be advised that this is completely our opinion, so if you don’t like it, it’s your choice. Enough of reading this introduction, check out the awesome list!

10. DC Universe MMO

When Sony Online Entertainment announced this title, DC Comic fans were ecstatic. Even though there were just not enough screens and videos for us to see, we still caught the concept. After the release of Mortal Kombat vs. DC, gamers where sort of left with a “What is this?” Hopefully SOE shows us what this game really can do.

9. Fable III

Peter Molyneux and Lionhead Studios was very excited to announce this third installment of Fable. With features of Project Natal, this game should be astonishing to any Fable of role-playing fan. If we didn’t know any better, we would think that this is a major selling point for Natal also. Be on the lookout for more screens on information during E3 2010.

8. Spec Ops: The Line

Last year at the SpikeTV Video Game Awards, 2k Games released a trailer of a new third-person shooter. Not only was it something new, but the fact that it is a 2k Games , makes it even more anticipated. Before you go and argue that last statement, just think about it. The last new IPs that 2k Gamesput out, Darksiders for example, were pretty great. It may not appeal to everyone, but the ones it does appeal to, it made a very big impact. Using sand like it is a character in itself was a genius idea. We only hope that it will be executed well.

7. Crysis 2

If you were lucky enough to listen to our 12th podcast, you will see how we talked down about Crytek. Aside from that, we still can’t hate on the fact that the engine is a very well-built engine, indeed. Many would think this game should be at the top of our list, but we figured this was the ideal spot. Since the announcement of CryENGINE 3, the industry went fanatical. With a new nanosuit, story and environment, New York to be exact, what could possibly go wrong? If marketed and developed correctly, anything could be possible.

6. NBA Jam

Even if you are not a big sports fan, any gamer could play NBA Jam. Scratch that, any gamer would play NBA Jam. When EA announce that they will remake this classic for the Wii, not only did we go nuts, but the whole internet went wacky. If you had to think of the newest game that was similar to it, Showtime: NBA on NBC, an old Dreamcast game, would be the perfect example. Updated graphics, current players and new modes makes this game probably one of the best Wii games to date. EA went as far as to bring back the original announcer. We are still waiting on the confirmation of this gaming coming to the Playstation Network and Xbox Live. We just have one work: BOOM-SHAKA-LAKA!

5. Batman: Arkham Asylum 2

You may be saying, “Why is this game so high on the list? It hasn’t even been a trailer on it!” If you did, then you are right. Here is the thing you have to realize, the prequel was just purely brilliant. It took Batman from the past, and transformed him into super Batman with modern technology. Rocksteady is a developer that knows what they are doing. They know the success of the first game, so they have to top it. Let’s hope that it will still go in the right direction, just as the last one did.

4. Mafia II

“You talking to me? I said, are you talking to me?” Okay, okay. We know this is an entirely different, but let’s admit, the Mafia franchise is slowly, but surely, becoming the only one stay authentic to the “gangster” mentality. Sure there were Scarface and The Godfather games, but those followed movies. 2k Games had an idea and ran with it. After announcement of the collector’s edition, there is no telling what can happen next. Hell, if we had to wait another year, we wouldn’t mind. Any delay to make a game become better, is okay with us.

3. Killzone 3

Oh, what a lovely month May has been to us. Sony is really surprising us with games coming out. It was no surprise that LittleBigPlanet 2 was coming, but damn Sony, you sure were early to announce these major games. We can only hope that they know what they are doing. With that being said, one game that GamePro managed to get first details on was Killzone 3. What is that you say? You just brought Killzone 2 last year? We also think it’s a bit too early to let the cat out of the bag. We, however, would imagine that the release date is somewhere in 2011, since they should just modify and tweak the engine.  Also, since the leak, details have been spilled, including arctic locations, jetpacks, and immersed gameplay. Did we mention that the game is confirmed to be in 3D? Yeah, Guerilla Games know that they will blow every gamer away…again.

2. Gears of War 3

Come on people, after all this reading, did you think we would forget an Epic game like this? Yes, that pun was intended. Like Cliff Bleszinski said, this game was one of the worst kept secrets in gaming history. When it was officially revealed, there was still a major buzz in the industry. The new use of the Unreal Engine shows that Epic Games is busting their asses to make sure this game does not fall short. With the title alone, how is that even possible? From the looks of it, they are going back to their roots, and then some. Just expect Marlon to be all over this game like white on rice at the E3 Expo.

1. Playstation Move/Project Natal

It has been really interesting since E3 ’09. Microsoft and Sony both reveal their own motion-controlling devices. Now, we know this is not a game, but let’s be honest, this is some pretty amazing technology. We understand that most people would compare both devices to the Wii, but are they really the same? First off, the major difference is the fact the two is high-definition. Second, both are more precise than the Wii. Even the two are different from each other, let’s just stop making comparisons to the Wii. Now that we got that out of the way, you are probably wondering why this even made it on our list. Well my friend, the answer is simple. Next generation is all about moving forward, correct? Well, what is moving forward than HD motion? That’s right, we thought so. Look for the full details on each product during this year’s E3 Expo.

Well there you have it. Leave us your comments and let us know what you think? Should a game be replace? Added? We don’t care, what you say, any feedback is good feed back.
