Deadpool Shows Hollywood How Teaser Trailers Are Supposed to Be Done

Deadpool The Game Fanatics

Fans have been clamoring for the wide release of the Deadpool trailer since the San Diego Comic-Con trailer leaked and got such a great response; 20th Century Fox did the next best thing and released the teaser trailer.

In this age of frequent and early leaks, studios have increasingly turned to teaser trailers to both manage the image of their upcoming films (especially in the superhero genre) and keep both hardcore fans, as well as the average movie goer, interested in the long months leading up to a big release. Teasers are usually incredibly enigmatic and function more as sizzle reels than true trailers, but 20th Century Fox decided to go another way when it came to the Deadpool trailer.

Instead of showing disconnected scenes of violence and mayhem the character is known for, the teaser has Ryan Reynolds donning his red and black mask and showing off some of Deadpool‘s signature wisecracks while delivering the brilliant line, “from the studio that inexplicably sewed his f—–g mouth shut the first time.”

Regardless of how excited the trailer made people, which from all indications is A LOT, the Deadpool teaser has shown Hollywood how to pull off all teaser trailers going forward. The full trailer featuring Ryan Reynolds will premiere later tonight on Conan and Deadpool releases nationwide on February 12th, 2016.
