City Interactive deal hints at a new FPS

City Interactive, developer and publisher of Sniper: Ghost Warrior, has announced a new contract to deploy Unreal Engine 3 in an upcoming, untitled first person shooter set to release some time in 2011.

“We are committed to developing and publishing high-quality, interactive experiences, and employing the most robust game engines are paramount to achieving that goal,” said Marek Tyminski, CEO of City Interactive.

Tyminski went on to say the Unreal Engine 3 acquisition gives City Interactive the ability to develop a state-of-the-art FPS using the newest technologies available in what he called one of the highest-performing game engines ever.

Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games said the company has been consistently upgrading the features of Unreal Engine 3 for both the PC and consoles, making it possible for City Interactive to use the best technologies available to develop their shooter.

The Unreal Engine 3 has been designed to provide developers with the best tools possible for rendering, audio, animation, physics, cinematics and other development tools for DirectX 10, the Xbox 360 and PS3.

City Interactive, which is based in Poland, develops and publishes games for a variety of platforms. The studio has been expanding quickly since opening in 2002 and could be on the cusp of releasing a major title.
