I Chose You, Pokemon Fighters!

One of the best parts about Pokemon is the combat, but turn-based gameplay isn’t for everyone. If that’s the case, Pokemon Fighters might be your cup of tea.

Announced this morning, Pokemon Fighters is a joint effort between Nintendo and Bandai Namco, who have also been working together on the upcoming Super Smash Bros. The game will debut in arcades, as is the norm with any Bandai Namco game, before presumably (and hopefully) releasing on the Wii U.

The game’s debut trailer feature Lucario and Machamp, two fighting type Pokemon. One wonders how diverse the game’s roster will be, as well as how many Pokemon will make an appearance. Obviously, the Magikarp of the Pokemon world won’t be appearing, but I’m crossing my fingers for a well-rounded line-up. Everyone seems to have a different favorite out there, so hopefully we can all get proper representation.

Pokemon Fighters will release in Japanese arcades in 2015.
