We have the ASUS Transformer, which is a tablet that transforms into a functional “netbook”, and now we have the Acamar Transformer, which is a netbook which transforms into a tablet. Confused yet?
The Acamar Transformer has an 8.9″ display (1024 x 600) with a tilting system that allows the screen to flip and “transform” the unit from a netbook to a tablet by laying the screen on top of the keyboard. The unit is powered by an Intel Atom N450 1.6GHz single core processor, 2GB RAM, a 120GB hard drive, and Windows 7 as the operating system of choice. The Acamar Transformer is outfitted with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a couple of USB 2.0 ports, VGA and Ethernet ports. As for the tablet functionality, the Acamar Transformer features full G-sensor capabilities and multi-touch display. At a price point of around $460 the Acamar Transformer just might even the playing field.
