Bioware Teases Their New IP’s Name at GDC and No One Spots It

Bioware

Here’s a funny remainder from the latest GDC. Bioware‘s Creative Director Alistair McNally announced that he was teasing the next game’s title on a T-Shirt during the convention… and that no one put attention to it.

When one of the biggest video game companies of the planet presents a brand new project, huge waves of expectation follow and roar across internet. Provided, of course, that we notice that very announcement in the first place. Bioware’s creative boss Alistair McNally has commented merrily in his personal Twitter that he was wearing a T-Shirt with the name of their latest IP on it during GDC – and that no one spotted it.

Believe or not, there are already some folks out there scanning videos and pictures of the convention, trying to hunt that logo down. They have not been successful so far. It seems that while McNally and his team played around with their textile teasers they also did not attend any important panel or meeting. One could argue that the alleged teaser-shirt is till something too small of an object, too sneaky, to start feeding speculations and wild talk. But Bioware’s staff has remained quite secretive about this IP until now, after all. Plus we are all human and want to know what is next in the pipeline for these RPG masters.

Bioware
We bet you did…

Bioware and the Mysterious Whereabouts of Their Newest IP

We have known for a while already that Bioware Edmonton has been working on a new title. The brightness of Mass Effect: Andromeda has not overshadowed the reality of it, already in the works since 2012. However, their level of engagement towards this game rivals their secrecy standards, some would argue, since we barely know anything about it.

Of this IP they have said that it will tell “contemporary stories” (whatever that means, really), that the core team who designed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is also its architect and that they have already played it. EA’s Chief Financial Officer, Blake Jorgensen, went beyond and announced quite recently that Bioware actually has a couple of things they have not talked about yet. “You’ll probably see them teased over the next six months,” he added. He did not confirm when these teasers are coming or whether the IP Edmonton has been talking about for the last two years will fall within that list. But it can be a solid possibility.

On the other hand, could this funny episode witnessed at GDC be the beginning of a wide scrutiny of Bioware’s attire in the future? Only E3 or the fellow conventions will tell.
