Best of E3 2018

E3 2018 Trailers

E3 2018 brought us some amazing games for all. Fast pasted shooters, interesting puzzles and expansive worlds to explore. We saw and played so many amazing games but these are some that really stuck out to us.

Tunic E3

Tunic

This game can be described in two words: simplistic beauty. This game caught the eye of many when it was shown on the Microsoft stage this year at E3. After talking with the developer, I am sure that the simple yet beautiful art style will win the hearts of many. It may remind many people of Zelda, but once you spend some time with the title, you will see that it has a heart and character of his own.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

It looks like Lara has gotten herself into some trouble this time and we are going along for the ride. Each of the new Tomb Raider games have been phenomenal. The new games have followed the development of Lara into the Tomb Raider. She is no longer the timid explorer we once new. We are now in a more dangerous environment where more things can cause us harm.

Kingdom Hearts 3

What can really be said about this title. Many of us have been waiting for years for the next installment of Kingdom HeartsWe finally have a release date and what’s even more important….we had a chance to play the game. Believe us when we say that real tears were shed. The game played and looked great. We truly appreciate Square Enix setting us with an appointment to get our hands on this game. January can’t come soon enough.

Dead or Alive 6

Dead or Alive has always been a fighter known for it’s graphics – specifically their female eye candy – and all of the games hold up pretty well. It is amazing that the developers are able to continue making improvements to the game. This installment going more for style than titilation. The game will be bringing back destructible stages and the characters we all love. The entire roster has yet to be announced but the fan favorites are there.

The Last of Us Part II

The Last of Us: Part II had a stellar showing on the Sony stage. New combat elements and enhanced graphics has this game looking jaw-dropping. No release date has been announced yet but we’re excited to see what Naughty Dog has in store for Ellie…..and Joel. It had a very powerful showing at this year’s E3 that left everyone wanting more. The gameplay demo looked amazing. Movement and combat seemed to be even more fluid than the first game. Just like the original The Last of Us demo years ago, there was some crazy finishers that made the audience go nuts.

Super Smash Brothers Ultimate

The name says it all. The Ultimate Super Smash Bros. experience will arrive this year. Every character to ever hit the Smash Bros stage will be present in this game along with some new surprises. This was definitely one of the stand out games from Nintendo this year and we won’t have to wait too long to play it. It will also be great to be able to play with our Gamecube controllers on the Switch.

Jurassic World Evolution

Do you like the Sims? Roller Coaster Tycoon? Dinosaurs? Well Jurassic World Evolution is the game for you. You will lose hours in this game building out your world and attempting to keep your Dinos happy. Jurassic World Evolution deserves a look if you are a fan of simulation games, or just a fan of the Jurassic Park series. Simulation fans will love the park building as it really stands out as one of, if not the best, looking simulation games to ever come out.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

The beauty and the difficulty of Ori has always been a draw. With Ori and the Will of the Wisps, the tradition lives on. The art style is still beautiful and the movement is so fluid. More weapons and abilities have been added in order to give the player various ways to tackle puzzles and enemies. Even though the Ori titles are difficult, they make them accessible to everyone. Ori is a beautiful game with a beautiful story and we can’t wait to play more next year.

Soul Calibur VI

Soul Calibur brings us back all the characters we know and love. Weapons, super moves, and new fighting stages are present in this iteration. This have never been a title that disappoints. We got our hands on this game and we were filled with a feeling of nostalgia.

Xbox Adaptive Controller

Microsoft has been attempting to make gaming accessible to all. With the Xbox Adaptive Controller, they are one step closer to making this a reality. The controller allows for accessories that are already out on the market and used by many and make them more accessible to those with physical handicaps. Microsoft and Xbox are not looking to make a profit on this product, they just want everyone to be included. Feedback from the community has already been amazing. Microsoft really has done something special here.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4

Boots are on the ground in this next Call Of Duty installment and we couldn’t be happier! Finally getting hands-on with the game thanks to Activision at E3 2018, genuinely revived my love for the franchise. There are a lot of new mechanics that players will need to get used to but they feel natural. Taking away a lot of the aerial combat and wall running may do the series good. Lucky for us, we won’t have to wait to long to get our hands on this title.

Destiny 2: Forsaken

We wonder if this will really be the end of Cayde-6? This next entry in the Destiny story will be one for the books. A new game mode, new weapons and armor, and a new chunk of story content has us at The Game Fanatics hyped. If you’re investing in the Destiny lore, you won’t want to miss this one. Bungie is determined to give the fans what they want. We have been asking for a more developed world and story and it looks like we are getting it.

Cyberpunk 2077

Many walked out of the behind closed doors demo speechless.  Cyberpunk 2077 has had people at the edges of their seats for a while now. A first person, open world RPG/Shooter made by the creators of The Witcher games sells itself. We don’t have a release date yet but we are itching with excitement to play this game. Watching this game being played, I couldn’t help but to think of things like Akira, Deus Ex and even Bioshock to a certain extent. Hopefully everyone gets to see the behind closed doors demo.

Spider-Man

This game is definitely taking people back to the days of good Spider-Man games. The swinging mechanics, combat, and art style are all mind blowing. We can wait to get out hands on this game this fall. This is definitely shaping up to be one of the best (if not the best) Spider-Man games ever made. Insomniac did wonders when it came to movement in traversal  in Sunset Overdrive. All the work looks like it has been perfected in Spider-Man.

And that’s our list. What games at E3 really impressed you? Let us know.
