Assassin’s Creed III Abounds as Ubisoft’s Stealthiest Seller Ever

It’s hard to contend with the popularity of a series such as Assassin’s Creed, and today’s news from Ubisoft resonates just how dominant the franchise has become. Its latest installment, Assassin’s Creed III, has become the fastest selling title in the publisher’s history with 7 million copies sold after being out for only a month.

Taking a faithful leap into the title’s extensive gameplay and astonishing graphics, gamers have spanned as many as 82 centuries in the history-driven story, taking out more than 3 billion opponents in just the solo campaign. The multiplayer mode has attracted double the amount of players as it did in Assassin’s Creed Revelations, which was released one year before its successor. Assassin’s Creed III has also enabled online assassins to rack up more than 5 billion multiplayer sessions, equaling a death toll of more than 250 million enemies.

Tony Key, Ubisoft’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, attributes the open-armed welcome of AC fans to the game to another future feat. “The reception for Assassin’s Creed III has been exceptional, and this success has positioned the game among the best sellers of the 2012 holiday season,” he states. “We knew we had something special on our hands when Assassin’s Creed III was launched, and we’re really excited and proud to see how much fans are enjoying the latest installment in the franchise.”

Answering to an abundant demand for additional in-depth multiplayer adventures, DLCs with new maps and characters will follow what Ubisoft is now tending to fans that prefer to play on their own. The Assassin’s Creed III Season Pass will expose single players to how history could have been different after the American Revolution with “The Tyranny of King Washington”, a campaign that includes three separate content packs. It is available for purchase for 2400 Microsoft points on Xbox Live, or $29.99 from the PlayStation Network. Expect to see all DLCs out for the Wii U as well.

If you haven’t heard enough about this game or somehow can’t decide whether or not you should own it, head over to http://assassinscreed.ubi.com/ac3/en-US/index.aspx for more game info, trailers, and more.
