Appitalism bringing Angry Birds to a wider audience

Angry Birds has cemented a reputation as one of the most popular mobile games on the market, but has been limited in its reach because it has only been available on the iPhone, Android and Symbian mobile application stores. While those three outlets gave a multitude of users the opportunity to play Angry Birds, many have been hampered by platform issues in their efforts to get the game.

This is changing as Appitalism, a mobile app store that is not affiliated with any devices or mobile operating systems, has obtained the rights to sell the popular avian title.  As Rovio Mobile’s application has already sold 12 million licenses within its first year, access to a new audience could drive a wave of sales.

“It’s great to have our game available on Appitalism.com. We look forward to welcoming new fans from the appitalism members and also seeing their feedback and ratings on the site,” said Peter Vesterbacka, The Mightly Eagle at Rovio Mobile.

Appitalism is also reaping the benefits of this arrangement, as Angry Birds brings the independent app store another high-profile game to add to its virtual store shelves.

“We pride ourselves on being the one-stop-shop for all devices and platforms and for the quality of the apps we sell. Angry Birds is a very welcome addition to our current catalog of over 5 million premium apps and we are pleased to be offering the game to each and every one of our localized stores around the world,” said Simon Buckingham CEO of Mobile Streams.

Appitalism is a free to join, mobile application store that is compatible with most smartphones. The agreement to bring Angry Birds to Appitalism fits within recent Rovio efforts to make the title accessible to more users, as the company is also porting Angry Birds to the PC and consoles.
