Acer’s Mouthwatering New 4K Monitor Sports G-Sync

Here’s one for the gamers who are willing to spare no expense for their gaming rig. Acer recently announced a new gaming monitor that’ll be sure to please even the most demanding PC gaming enthusiast.

“4K resolution” is a hot topic at the moment. We’ve seen it advertised on several televisions and there have been a handful of monitors that support it as well. But these monitors weren’t designed with gamers in mind. Thankfully brands like Acer are looking out for us.

Acer announced a new 28 inch 4K monitor for gamers that’s coming in the next few months. The key selling points are a native 3840 x 2160 resolution and the inclusion of NVIDIA’s latest feature, G-Sync.

If you’re not familiar already, G-Sync was first announced back in October. It’s designed with the intention of giving us a smoother gaming experience free of stuttering, screen tearing and of course lag. Monitors with G-Sync will be able to sync automatically with your graphics card to make sure you’re getting the best possible experience. Of course, this also requires your computer to have a compatible GeForce graphics card.

There’s no monitor currently on the market that comes with the technology out of the box. For now, the only way to get your hands on G-Sync is by purchasing a modified ASUS monitor or by doing it yourself. Thankfully Acer has the XB280HK monitor tentatively hitting shelves Q2 this year, so hopefully the wait won’t be too long.

We at The Game Fanatics cannot wait to get our hands on G-Sync and take it for a spin, and Acer is making a certainly making a good case to be our first monitor, but since no pricing has been announced we could see this in the same price range as the soon-to-be-available ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q; a 27 inch monitor that also features a 4k display and NVIDIA G-Sync.

For more details on G-Sync, check out NVIDIA’s video below. And be sure to sound off in the comments if this monitor is on your list of upgrades for 2014.
