People Are Very Upset with Destiny’s Iron Banner

The Iron Banner is supposed to be a place for Destiny players to put their skill to the test in hopes of honor and reward.

The lack of level/gear balancing means that if you want to do well, you either need to bring top-tier equipment or be really, really good at the game. It’d make sense then that you’d be able to acquire some pretty killer items for completing these Iron Banner matches, right?

Wrong!

Here is Reddit user Thr33x:

“I’m sure all of you fellow day 1 players out there remember how much of an unmitigated disaster the very first Iron Banner was. Power DIDN’T matter, drop rates were atrocious, teams would quit when losing and…well…there were those who managed to get themselves Pocket Infinity, Vex Mythoclast and SUROS Regime early. UGH.

Since that fun filled (sarcasm) week in the fall of 2014, the Iron Banner got better. Well…certain things got better. Weapons were patched. Drop rates were fixed somewhat. Medalions were added to encourage toughing it out (though anyone with 5 is still going to quit a losing battle). Come House Of Wolves, legendary gear was dropping like rain for everyone, IB or non-IB, in PVP. Aside from lag and horrendous matchmaking, Iron Banner was at the very least tolerable.

Then comes this past week, where it seems Bungie hit the reset button on all the progress they made with the event.”

This entire thread tells a similar, depressing story.

To some, this may come off as entitlement. Outsiders may view complaints as gamers going “I did these things, now where is my free loot?!” Consider this, though: The Iron Banner is no joke; it’s meant for the best of the best in Destiny PVP. For the game to “reward” your time and effort with a severe lack of loot is incredibly depressing.

Bungie has done a lot of positives with Destiny since the release of The Taken King, but there is still plenty of room to improve.
