E3 2014 | Tom Clancy's The Division Keeps Getting Better

Tom Clancy’s The Division had some amazing gameplay footage shown at E3’s this year. Ubisoft highlighted some of the amazing features the game has in store for us and really shed some light on the highly anticipated game.

The Division has surprised me every step of the way. I went into E3 thinking it was just another Tom Clancy game. It definitely isn’t.  An online multiplayer open world RPG shooter? This is everything I’ve wanted in an online shooter, and from the looks of it the community feels the same way.

The premise of the game is this: on Black Friday in New York City, the local population succumbs to a pandemic that makes basic services stop. Within apocalypse ensues and its up to The Division to maintain order. The Division delivers a whole new open world and series within the Tom Clancy series that will blow you away.

As the player in this vast world, you are a classified self-supported tactical agent. Leading your team and friends throughout missions that are affected by the changing of night and day. The Division agents, you, are highly trained to be efficiently independent of any command and fight to help society regain strength.

A unique feature of the game is the map. When the map is opened, it appears as an overlay below your character — with amazing detail. As most maps do, you can count on it tolead you to your next mission and highlight key areas of interest throughout the game.

ECHO
The ECHO Tool

The ECHO is your agent’s data gathering tool. This system shows the agent what happened in the location they are at and can even unlock side missions. It is displayed in high rendered 3D detail that showcases the amazing detail that the Ubisoft Snowdrop can create.

The Division is powered by Ubisoft’s Snowdrop next-gen engine. Tailored for next-gen consoles, we can expect The Division to show us the greatness our next-gen consoles hold. With Snowdrop the gameplay quality and game dynamics are taken to a new level with the dynamic global illumination and detailed visual effects like no other game.

Just like any RPG you will come across items that you can use to benefit your agent. Since the game is an online “social” game, as Ubisoft mentions, you can trade items with other players in real time as well as jump in and out of your friends games. A companion on a tablet synced to your game can control a drone to help your missions and game.

With Snowdrop, Ubisoft hopes that gamers can enjoy the next-gen detail they’ve been waiting for. Available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, The Division will use the state of the art technology from the Snowdrop engine to battle foes, equip new and improved gear, and enjoy the beauty of the detailed city around you. Your agent will be customizable with an overload of weapons, skill combinations, gear and so much more. Each choice you make in game will greatly affect your world, and it should.

Missed out on the E3 gameplay footage? Don’t worry we got you here.
