Zach Wood, Senior Producer of PlayStation’s Twisted Metal series, has revealed that Axel is now available to every player of the demolition derby-based game with today’s free patch.
The two-wheeled bringer of destruction was formerly a pre-order bonus back on Valentine’s Day. Now all fans can roll out a new approach to damage with Axel’s unique methods of attack. Guilty bystanders can be kept at a distance with his signature Crowd Control, or utilize his aptly named alternate special attack, War Wheel, on unsuspecting enemies.

It’s been a few weeks since we’ve posted a fresh episode of the @GspotPodcast, but @fanaticalg returns to host the show yet again. The 50 minute episode is choked full of condensed gaming and tech goodness, so we suggest you dilute it with the 3-4 minutes of bloopers at the end. Christmas may have come and gone for another year, but it looks like Twisted Metal fans are still receiving some late gifts courtesy of series co-creator David Jaffe. As part of a selection of holiday messages on the Playstation Blog, Jaffe announced that “first printing” copies of Twisted Metal for the PS3 will contain a voucher code for the 2001 classic Twisted Metal: Black. While the download won’t be of the ‘HD remake’ variety, it’s still a thoughtful gesture that’s sure to please eagerly awaiting fans.
Twisted Metal is scheduled for release on February 14th, 2012.
Check out the awesome gameplay below, thanks to IGN. Twisted Metal will be available October 4th, 2011 exclusively for the PlayStation 3.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the flaming skull clown is back with a vengeance. A reboot of the well known road raging, weapon crazing, PlayStation series is back, Twisted Metal! Developed by Eat Sleep Play and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. This is something all Sweet tooth fans have been waiting for (myself included), as the ESRB has recently rated the classic “Twisted Metal” that was launched for the PS1 nearly a decade ago for upcoming release.
ESRB recently slapped a Teen rating on the series’ first instalment, due out on the PS3 and PSP — the usual indication that a title is awaiting release on the PSOne Classics platform.
No date on when it will be released but possibly in time for the holiday season.
Nintendo and Sony both have long successful histories when it comes to the gaming industry and quite frankly, they’re the only two companies that produce consoles that can make such claims. It also makes you wonder why companies like SEGA and Microsoft are quite capable of competing with the top brands, but also as to why these two companies couldn’t/can’t put it all together to truly be successful outside of financial goals.
David Jaffe, creator of Twisted Metal and God of War, has always looked at the corporate bullshit spun by Nintendo as just PR babble and nothing more. I’m of course discussing the Nintendo belief that they have no competition but themselves and I’ve come [...]
