What We Played for Week Ending May 27

This is a weekly segment where we share what games we are currently playing for our readers to get to know us a bit better. Said games can range from retro to current and from casual to FPS games.

If we’re playing it, we’ll share it. Please feel free to comment with what you’re playing or your opinions on the games that we’re involved with.

William: Been going through Diablo 3 Nightmare mode. Kinda losing steam. The game isn’t so much the atmospheric dungeon crawler that the series used to be known as, and it’s more an “isometric beat-em-up”. Which is fine if you’re in to that sort of thing, but I don’t think it’s fully my cup [...]

Razer Naga Hex Prepares To Conquer MOBAs And Action RPGs Everywhere

The toll a mouse takes when you’re playing an intense game of Heroes of Newerth, a close battle in DotA 2, dodging through enemies as you attack in TERA, or the amount of pain you’ll be giving it in Diablo III can be pretty unbearable at times. Luckily, the folks at Razer have your back. Introducing the Razer Naga Hex.

TERA Online’s Open Beta Left Quite An Impression On Us

We enjoyed our time with TERA back at PAX East, so we were naturally excited to dive into the open beta. While William rolled a Mystic, I enjoyed leveling up my Warrior in anticipation for the head start this upcoming weekend.

What We Played for Week Ending April 22: William Speaks Pokemon

Jen: Played a little bit of the Diablo III open beta however it was a tad laggy for me and I ended up going back to SWTOR, which is what I’ve been playing this week. I want to get to level 50 already! Currently I am almost to level 45.

Jake: While the MoP beta lies waiting, I’ve been busy with the Diablo III closed beta, [...]

TERA Promises Improved Early Level Play, Adjusted Storyline To Reveal Deeper Lore

While there’s a general consensus that we enjoyed our time with TERA at PAX East, there was a concern that we’d be playing a game more akin to Dynasty Warriors than an MMORPG. However, a new blog post from TERA‘s official website shines some light on the issue, possibly even giving us hope for a questing experience unlike any other MMORPG.

Among the features highlighted in the short blog post are:

Playable Prologue: You become part of a beach landing gone awry. Can you save your allies and prevent a military disaster? Badder Bosses: New tactics and deadlier attacks from early-level foes. You’ll earn those levels. Quest Variety: Dozens of new quests [...]

PAX East – Playing Through All The MMOs

In addition to all the new shooters that were seen at PAX, I had kind of lost track of how many MMORPGs are on the immediate horizon. It’s exciting to see so many MMOs being released at the same time. To me at least. MMOs are something that I’ve been engaged in since the late 90s, and it’s not generally a genre you see a lot of mobility in. Once people find an MMO, they generally tend to stay there for a while. I’m sure if you ask any World of Warcraft fans, many are going to tell you they’ve been playing for at least 5 years.

Having a dedicated playerbase for that amount of time is obviously an incentive for developers to get in on this game model, as it’s been seeing [...]
